Men at work on cement workJuly News - Museum Opens 9th September 2000

At the August Committee meeting the following main points about the museum's progress were reported however the biggest news is that it was decided that the museum will open on Saturday the 9th September 2000. A guest of honour will be approached for the opening ceremony.

 

Latest Progress:-

At the start of July the airport authorities completed the erection of the security fence around the museum.
All work on the actual building is just about complete.
New security doors have been fitted.
The committee decided on which type of interior shelving/display cases to use for security and safety reasons, their funding and installation, all based on a plan showing what will be displayed in each room. Additionally members were reminded to sort out their collections to decide what will be on display.
Cement work around the building needs completing.

Ivor asked all present to assist as much as possible in the final run up to the opening date so that it will not be missed, particularly in the erection of display cases and sorting out items for display.
