The MacClellan Hall, Tromode Road, Douglas, Isle of ManThe Regimental Museum Of The Manx Regiment

Old Comrades Association (O.C.A.), 15th (Isle of Man) Light A.A., Regiment R.A. (T.A.)

On the 22nd May 2001 our Events Organiser, Barry Quilliam, had been at work again and organised a visit to The MacClellan Hall, home of the Regimental Museum of the Manx Regiment. Please note that the contents of the Museum have now been transferred to the Nissen Hut at MAMM.

About a dozen MAPS members attended with family members and were treated to a talk on the history of the regiment during the Second World War. Afterwards we were free to brouse around this excellent museum showing the history of the regiment in detail, documentation of every theatre of operation, photographs, maps, memorabilia and models, with the centre piece being a 40mm Bofors gun. It was truly a superb evening and amazing how much can be held in such a small building.

First view from inside The MacClellan HallThe MacClellan Hall commemorated the part played by the Regiment during World War II in so many theatres of war – Great Britain, Egypt, Eritrea, Abyssinia, Crete, Libya, Cyrenaica, Tripolitania, Tunisia, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

The Museum used to be situated on Tromode Road, Douglas, and admission was free. All visitors were made very welcome by Old Comrades of the Regiment who were in attendance.
